About Justin Stoker
I am grateful to have had a career that is full of diverse work responsibilities and experiences. I began working for an engineering consultant for a firm in Nevada specializing in stormwater, drainage, and urban hydrology. After moving to Utah, I continued to do private consulting for several commercial, industrial, and public schools, supervising the management and design of those projects.After about 6-years of experience doing design in the private sector, I joined the utilities team at Salt Lake City, where I worked with some amazing people. At Salt Lake City, I was given some great opportunities to manage several large capital projects, while serving on the steering committee for the SLC Public Safety Building and serving as liaison to the Utah Department of Transportation, the Utah Transit Authority, the University of Utah, and several other technical advisory committees. All the while, I reviewed development plans for new construction and worked on several special environmental projects.I was then given the opportunity work for my home city as the Deputy Director of Public Works where I supervised the operations and maintenance groups, including water, wastewater, stormwater, streetlights, street maintenance, fleet maintenance, and facility maintenance. We were able to come up with some innovative solutions to some long-standing issues and then make some reorganizations to fix some inequalities that had grown into the organization. I was also able to direct the programming and construction of a new public works building for the city, enabling a higher level of service to the residents and providing space to address future needs of a growing city. I currently supervise the Capital Projects group with fleet and facilities, and work to help coordinate and communicate projects with the city administration and elected official. I look forward to daily challenges and the opportunity to greater serve my community.
