Managed an extensive renovation of a partially occupied 5-storey, 45,000 sq.ft. heritage building from initial planning through to project completion (533 College Street). The building was transformed into the company's LEED Certified Toronto office, with two spaces for future tenants. The project included extensive structural and underpinning work to create a usable basement space and the addition of a rooftop patio with views of the Toronto skyline.

Canoe Landing Community Centre & Schools, City of TorontoThis 164,000 square foot multi-use facility project includes two schools and a child care. Justin was responsible for managing the budget/cost tracking component of this project. Sherwood Community Centre and Library, Town of MiltonThe project objective is to build a facility with a Community Centre (twin pad arenas and aquatics centre) and a Library. Justin was responsible for tracking and reporting on all project related costs including changes to budget and/or expenditures and schedule management through Earned Value Management, Microsoft Project schedule evaluation and site progress reviews. New Municipal Offices, Township of KingNearing completion, this project will provide a two storey facility with new municipal offices, gymnasium open to public use and a York Region Police Sub-Station. Justin had a similar role on this project to the above noted community centre and library project.Township Wide Recreation Centre, Township of KingThe facility will include an NHL sized ice surface, an indoor pool, fitness components, and athletic spaces. Justin was responsible for aiding in the preparation of front end RFP documents required for preliminary studies and the evaluation of responses received. Justin was also responsible for aiding the Township in drafting preliminary schedules, budgets, communication plans, project plans, organizational charts and responsibility matrices. Civic Precinct Project, Town of Richmond HillAmong other tasks, Justin was responsible for risk identification and mitigation on this Project which consists of the Central Library Expansion, new Civic Administration Centre, and outdoor features. As of July 2018, the project was placed on hold by Council. Justin then assisted the client in an Advisory Role to complete further feasibility studies to better inform Council on their decision-making process.

City of White Rock - Water Treatment Plant, White Rock, BCJustin worked with the project team to ensure the successful delivery of this design-build project to bring clean drinking water to the residents of the City of White Rock. Justin's attention to detail and excellent written communication skills provided certainty to the City that the contract with the design-builder was fairly managed.City of Powell River - Waste Water Treatment Plant, Powell River, BCJustin worked through the design phase of this project to ensure funding was obtained for the construction phase of this traditional design-bid-build project. Justin brought his knowledge of similar projects to anticipate and raise critical questions to the City. This made these unknown risks known to the project team so that these risks could be managed accordingly.BC Hydro - Property Sales and Leasing, Various Locations, BCJustin was responsible for delivering various projects ranging in value from $150k to $2M. The purpose of these projects was to demolish old, unused structures from BC Hydro properties in order to mitigate the risk these structures pose to the public and to make the land these structures are located on sellable.Justin also led due diligence investigation projects of BC Hydro owned buildings to evaluate the profitability of potential property sales to the public.BC Hydro – Building Improvements; Various Locations, BCJustin led various building upgrade projects to BC Hydro District Offices across British Columbia. Typical project examples included interior renovations, roof replacements, HVAC upgrades, envelope upgrades, elevator upgrades, generator installations, fire system upgrades, structural upgrades and general yard improvements. Justin worked on the most high profile projects within this program including the BC Hydro head office and major construction of a new BC Hydro Call Centre.

MD Financial Management – Office Rebranding; Various Locations, BCJustin led the rebranding of ten MD Financial Management offices across British Columbia. Justin gained experience in contractor procurement, schedule management, and on-site deficiency reviews. Justin also managed various stakeholders including office staff, property managers, security personnel, landlords, furniture suppliers and IT/AV installers.

Ivanhoé Cambridge – The Outlet Collection at Niagara ConstructionJustin worked on-site for PCL Constructors Inc. as a Jr. Field Engineer. The outlet shopping centre is now the largest in Canada with 520,000 SF that consists of more than 100 outlet retail outlets at a total construction cost of $178M. Justin was responsible for managing trades, monthly site reporting, updating red line drawings, tenant turnover coordination, and enforcing site safety. Justin was also responsible for updating safety, traffic control and fencing AutoCAD site plans.

Seattle, Wa

Justin worked for many clients in the Seattle area. Most notably, Justin worked for the University of Washington construction on new LEED Gold residences as well various high rise condo buildings in downtown Seattle. Justin was responsible for litigation support, investigative equipment maintenance, air leakage testing, building condition assessments, building energy testing, water penetration testing, roof inspections, and new construction envelope quality control.

Kitchener, On

Justin’s role consisted of on-site testing of concrete (slump test and air content test), soil compaction, and asphalt compaction. Justin was exposed to many sites different construction sites on a daily basis, and relied heavily on his communication skills to resolve the conflicting interests of construction workers to the quality control standards.

Breslau, On

Justin was responsible for drafting as-built AutoCAD drawings and analyzing compression and tension load tests. Throughout his work in this role, he worked closely with structural engineers and crews to coordinate installation of helical piers and anchors across the Greater Toronto Area.

Dundas/Simcoe, On

Justin was responsible for drafting legal and topographical survey plans. Justin also assisted in the field with grading layout, house stakeouts, curb layout and he led mandrel inspections of a newly constructed subdivision.
