I give support to others in the City to keep us on track with our goals and budget. Collaborating with others to gain an understanding of their needs and wants, and using that to build and automate reporting they can actually use is my jam. I love translating the technical of accounting into something understandable (and sometimes fun) for the layperson. Providing strong presentations to Council and staff, I'm able to help provide good information to make better-informed decisions.

Role primarily consists of preparing audits under relevant reporting frameworks (primarily ASNPO and PSAS). Discussed, documented, and assessed controls and processes in organizations, and used sampling techniques, in order to obtain audit evidence and support conclusions. Prepared financial statements and note disclosures, analyses and reconciliations to support amounts presented, and year-end adjusting entries as necessary. Managed and prioritized multiple deadlines, working independently and in teams to complete engagements and fulfil client expectations.

Duties included primarily prepared Notice to Reader and Review engagements. Preparation of Corporate tax returns, GST returns. Reviewed and analyzed client data for accuracy and prepared year-end adjusting entries for clients in a variety of businesses. Performed data entry / bookkeeping for routine transactions and ran reports in various accounting software, primarily Quickbooks and SAGE, to assist in year-end preparation.

The majority of my time in this position was spent working within the LCBO side of Carnarvon Jug City. My primary responsibilities included receiving inventory orders, stocking shelves, and handling can and bottle returns. Throughout my work days, I would interact with customers and ensured superior service by aiding customers to find and carry products and creating a positive environment.

Responsible for setting up computer hardware and required software, updating and maintaining database of 1500 potential customers, and creating solutions to achieve better organizational efficiency, such as integrating the Google Suite within the customer relationship management software.

Primary duty was providing customer service including providing samples, answering questions, and handling sales. Additional duties included stocking shelves and maintaining inventory counts, performing opening and closing duties, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

During the summers of 2008 - 2014, I ran a booth at various local farmers markets. Responsibilities included sourcing and purchasing products, maintaining inventory counts and bookkeeping, providing customer service, and creating promotional materials including posters and packaging.In the summer of 2014, I got the opportunity to take it a step further with the help of the Government of Ontario's Summer Company Program. With their support, I began a business making and selling from-scratch handmade soap. Through the program, I met local professionals, participated in several helpful seminars such as a Social Media Introduction, and got the opportunity to explore a passion.

During my co-op term, my duties consisted of: opening, editing, and closing of files within the client database; preparing documents, emails, and invoices; reconciling accounts; and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
