I coordinated Oceanic Society's Expeditions program, which is designed to send travelers to unique places around the world, so they can learn about marine ecosystems, and understand how negative human behaviors are impacting the marine environment. Our goal was to create life-changing experiences by connecting people with nature, so that they would become stewards of the ocean and its resources. We also supported local communities through ecotourism, and provide financial assistance to scientists.As the Conservation Travel Programs Coordinator, I coordinated and managed 40-50 trips per year (both regular and citizen-science) in 25 countries located throughout Southeast Asia, Oceania, Australia, Central and South America, North America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Most trips are ocean related (snorkeling and diving), but we also do land-based safari style expeditions.My other duties included designing trips, guiding expeditions (Palau, Raja Ampat Indonesia, and Belize), writing all trip-related marketing materials (pre-trip packets, brochures, annual catalogs, blogs), sales, database management, website maintenance, managing all customer relations (400+ clients per year), ensuring that guides would run trips using proper protocols, and fundraising.

This was an internship where I conducted data analysis on the geographic patterns of freight movements coming into Northeast U.S. seaports to help the Quonset Development Corporation improve their business logistics and increase container traffic. I also helped clean up and organize their database.

I worked as a TA and helped assist professors with college classes in the Marine Affairs Department. Some of my duties included tutoring students, grading essays and exams, and assisting professors with their research. Classes I helped teach included Coastal Zone Law and Marine Protected Areas.

I worked as the Global Coordinator for the International Coastal Cleanup. I was in charge of organizing, arranging, and coordinating coastal cleanups in 108 countries and 45 U.S. states to mark the largest coastal cleanup in the world for the 25th Anniversary of the ICC. I also trained every country coordinator worldwide through a series of webinars to ensure that every cleanup coordinator used the same methodology when collecting and reporting their data. Additionally, I developed an online database managing tool so that all data collected during the cleanups could be imported online, instead of being sent through the mail.

In this internship, one of my main duties was conducting a large-scale literature review on the impacts of marine debris on sea turtles and marine mammals. I presented and published my results at the 5th International Marine Debris Conference in 2011. I also was in charge of answering all science-based questions that were asked by members of the organization. Additionally, I helped interpret environmental regulations and participated in outreach efforts to distribute Ocean Conservancy's policy initiatives to various stakeholders.
