About Magdiel Justo

I am a secondary educator that centers his work around the tenets of critical social justice and antiracist teaching. My own experiences in the K-12 system fostered my passion for education and my longing for community empowerment. As a result, my work in the classroom revolves around developing my students' empathy, building transformational student-teacher relationships, and tapping into students' cultural and linguistic assets.I am a versatile professional that has taught in virtual, hybrid, and in-person settings. In my practice, I utilize a wide array of educational technology resources to ensure student engagement and differentiation for all learners. My work in education has primarily revolved around serving underrepresented communities in the California cities of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, San Bernardino, and Los Angeles. I have mentored, tutored, and taught a culturally diverse population of students in the 6th - 12th grades.Being an educator is a central part of my identity. Therefore, I stay informed about the latest developments in pedagogical research, immigration, and educational policies. Lastly, I approach my work with love—an unshakable love for all students along with a vision for a better future.
