Using a variety of mediums, Justus Roe creates large-scale artwork including interior and exterior wall paintings, sculpture, installations, and canvas painting exploring the intersection between wild style graffiti aesthetics and traditional abstraction. Influenced by architecture, city grid systems, and abstract art, the works are reminiscent of aerial perspectives and metropolitan environments. Often in collaboration with architects, designers, curators and clients, Roe creates unique, iconic works of art that help to engage audiences and define specific environments. Roe has worked with a variety of clients including city governments, architects, design firms, developers, NPO’s, urban planning firms, private clients and art organizations, managing significant budgets, deadlines and logistics. Recent projects in Chicago and beyond include: the over 9000 sqft Roncesvalle Pedestrian Bridge in Toronto, the Wabash Arts Corridor 6500 sqft painting at 1001 S. State St., and 4,500 sqft large-scale municipal project for the City of Bloomington Indiana.
