About Justyna Kowalska

UX and UI designer with 6 years of both in-house and agency design experience. I design human-centric and elegant prototypes as source of inspiration for solving complex software problems. I use close collaboration as a funnel for my ideas, ensuring the designs are robust and thought through; whether that is software or websites. I'm really passionate about understanding UX principles and behavioural design, as that enables me to tackle challenges with an evidence-based approach.

  • Coaching Culture Ltd.
    Head Of Creative
Coaching Culture Ltd. Sep 2020 - Jun 2023
    Lymm, England, United Kingdom
I focus on anything that involves print, merchandise, digital, social, and most importantly the UX for our product. The role requires me to use the vast majority of the Adobe Creative suite, namely XD, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and AfterEffects. Most importantly, the largest aspect of my role is working very closely with the product team to solve problems and generate new ideas for our software - the Coaching Culture platform. This involves researching pain points, analysing data, the mapping of user journeys, the design and creation of prototypes, and testing with user pools. Within this also falls the up-keep of our website and any lading pages, currently hosted on UnBounce. I use Adobe XD for all wire-framing and prototyping needs. As mentioned above, I also work with digital content creation which involves close collaboration with the marketing department to produce a variety of content. This involves creating short animated videos, the recording and editing of podcasts, banners, and infographics, all created in the name of brand awareness. Finally, broaching the print aspect of my role and there are a few major focuses that fall within this category; the quarterly Coaching Culture Magazine and the Coaching Culture Workshops. It is my responsibility to align with printing specialists to ensure the design is processed and met with a high standard, collaborating with content creation and working to the quarterly deadline. As for the workshops, this involves working with our workshop content creators, to produce workbooks, any necessary games or cards, slides and digital assets to enable a successful workshop. Items that also fall within the print aspect, are branded goods, merchandise and promotional material such as flyers, banners, posters, etc.
  • Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd
    Marketing And Design Administrator
Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd Jun 2018 - Aug 2020
    Manchester, United Kingdom
Working as a Marketing Administrator has been a great opportunity to use my creative knowledge. I was responsible for the design of any branded material that is distributed within the company such as promotional materials, posters, flyers or branded documents. As Thomas Hardie is a subsidiary of Volvo, I had to abide by strict brand guidelines, to ensure the Volvo brand remained visible and recognisable throughout all material which meant I coordinated all branding and updated the look of all company documents to ensure they followed the same tone of voice and synchronised visually. The role demanded my full knowledge of Adobe CC, as I worked with a very wide range of media; be it digital, print, photography, and video. This role was the beginning to my journey to UX, because I was tasked with the upkeep of the internal intranet sites through the use of WordPress and Adobe Experience Manager. Although my involvement was minimal, it still influenced my future decision to specialise within User Experience. Finally, I also held the responsibility for the upkeep of social media; which entailed designing and creating engaging social media posts, to boost follower numbers and generate leads. This also tied in with the use of targeted e-mail marketing, cross posting sales campaigns to ensure a broad, sweeping reach.

    Customer Service Representative
The Phone Co-Op, Part Of The Midcounties Co-Operative Aug 2017 - Jun 2018
    Manchester, United Kingdom
Within this role, I was challenged to be a creative thinker and a problem solver. As a customer service representative, I had to deal with customers' queries in regards to their service, any issues that may have occurred on the networks or any billing queries. This was a great opportunity for me to really hone my customer service knowledge, that I had gathered in my retail background.
  • Levi Strauss & Co.
    Visual Merchandiser
    Levi Strauss & Co. Sep 2015 - Jul 2017
    Manchester, United Kingdom
This was a great part-time opportunity, as I was able to use my creative knowledge and apply it in a shop environment, while I was studying at university. My role mainly consisted of maintaining the shop standards and ensuring the product we received was displayed in an effective manner that would promote selling and enabled us to meet targets as a store.I worked within the busy Trafford Centre store, where my role was combined with that of a Key Holder. As a Key Holder, my responsibilities laid within ensuring the store met the monthly financial targets, while supervising staff on the particular shift I was working on.
