About Jeannine Van Der Linden
I am a third generation accidental entrepreneur following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother. I immigrated to the Netherlands and, like my elders and so many other women, found I was excluded from the employment market and so founded De Kamer.So many of us are excluded from achieving our dreams by barriers to entry like the high costs of operations and requirements based on traditional, wasteful ways of doing business. Standing still is, as the Dutch say, the same as moving backwards, and developing business operations is our creative labour of love – without insane requirements, pretending to be something you are not, or settling for an impersonal cube.I see coworking as the infrastructure of the Future of Work which also led me to become Director of the European Coworking Assembly and the managing partner of Open Coworking. I am also, as far as anyone can work out, the first and only American to become a part of the organisation of a Carnaval Crewe in North-Brabant and will always be proud of that.Before I came to the Netherlands, I was a practising lawyer in Atlanta, Georgia, and I still do occasional consulting work in the areas of business litigation, contract review, and litigation prevention for businesses. I can tell you how to sue folks, or I can tell you how to prevent folks from hiring somebody like me to sue you.
