About Jacqueline Van Dyk

Jacqueline is the Director of Library Services at the North Vancouver District Public Library. A passionate advocate of libraries and and their role in supporting lifelong learning, Jacqueline is proud to lead a strong community-focused public library and is committed to building employee capacity and organizational development.Previously, Jacqueline was the Director of British Columbia’s Libraries and Literacy Branch. As provincial librarian, she worked to ensure that all British Columbians had the best library access possible, and that library money was well spent through, among other things, the nurturing of collaborative services. She was responsible for administering the Library Act and promoting the improvement and extension of public library service throughout British Columbia. She was also responsible for literacy and rural educational policy and strategy, working in collaboration with education partners.Jacqueline is a past member and chair of the Provincial-Territorial Public Library Council, the national organization that facilitates the coordination of cross-jurisdictional initiatives and serves as a point of contact with national library organizations and the federal government. Prior to that, Jacqueline was the Library Systems department head at Vancouver Community College where she developed and supported systems-related services for the students, faculty and staff.In the 1990s, Jacqueline was the manager of Systems and Technology for the North Vancouver District Public Library. Additionally, she has consulted regarding library systems, developed websites, taught classes at Langara College, and coordinated the provincial Summer Reading Club.She holds a M.L.I.S. from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Western Ontario.
