With more than ten years of experience in policy and communications, I currently work as a senior policy officer for the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). I support and advice the supervision teams in order to make strategic decisions that enhance the financial well-being of consumers and fair and transparent financial markets. I represent the AFM vis-a-vis national and international stakeholders. In terms of policy I focus on a broad variety of financial services and retail topics in the fields of pensions, insurance and retail investing. Before joining the AFM, I was a financial and corporate communications advisor for six years, working with executive management of public companies on investor relations, capital markets communications, media relations, reputation and management and public affairs. I also worked for Google, Liberal International, and Glass Lewis, a proxy advisory firm. I have extensive international experience, having worked, studied and lived in the US, the UK and Dublin, in addition to my native the Netherlands. I am originally from Haarlem (the Netherlands) but pursued a US liberal arts education at Washington College and obtained graduate degrees in History at the University of Amsterdam and in Public Policy at Maastricht University.
