Jumana launched a consulting practice to help nonprofit clients design and implement programs that take advantage of, and respond to, current political, social, and economic realities. She helps nonprofits with policy development and advocacy strategies, managing grantmaking initiatives, program planning and evaluation, fundraising, meeting facilitation, research and survey analysis, and strategic outreach & communications. She specializes in helping groups just and achieve equitable outcomes by strategically applying tools related to equity and justice. Previously, Jumana was a program officer in the C. S. Mott Foundation’s Environment Program for almost nine years. Her grantmaking responsibilities focused on strengthening policies to protect the Great Lakes ecosystem from threats such as pollution, invasive species, unsustainable land use, and climate change. In response to the drinking water crisis in Flint, Jumana developed a new grantmaking area to help communities deliver safe, affordable, and efficient water services to all residents. Jumana also helped build the organizational capacity of nonprofits and networks engaged in the conservation of freshwater resources. Jumana previously served as the Director of Development at Enlace Chicago, a community-based Latino organization. Jumana’s previous professional experience also includes working on environmental justice projects at the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration. Jumana previously served on the Steering Committee of the Great Lakes Funders Collaboration and the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment Visiting Committee. Jumana currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, as a Board Member of River Network and the Americana Foundation, and on the Advisory Board of the Heartland Fund.
