I lead Tropos, a boutique data analytics consultancy based in Belgium. I love my job more than selling myself, so here are 5 quick facts that sum up the journey.1 - I’ve been in data analytics all my career. I had more or less every role one can have in analytics consulting. Going that broad brought professional growth, and helps to relate to what keeps people up at night.2 - I got to this point via an unusual route. I met Snowflake when they were a beta service. What they did was so different from common practice that I decided to start a company based on it. In Belgium, with no market for it, no financial backing, no co-founder and no references for it. It worked out, and taught me lessons probably no schoolbook ever can teach anyone.3 - Finding pragmatic, down-to-earth ways to make a business impact through data still genuinely motivates me. I believe it drips down into how we do Tropos. 4 - I don’t like pushy smooth talk. If you’re nice and down-to-earth, I’ll go out of my way to help you. I like to treat people with respect. Everyone’s a teacher.5 - in my spare time, I’m an avid Ashtanga yoga practitioner, frequent Bali visitor and occasional wavesurfer. I’m into specialty coffees as well. Quality goes over quantity. Having structurally more spare time would likely make me pick up volunteering work in South-East Asia.
