As Knowledge Management intern at Alares, I am researching the possibilities related to designing an open collaboration platform for networked organisations. This research specifically focusses on how knowledge workers communicate with each other within their own organisation, as well as with the outside world. How, and where, is information found, stored, shared and used? To answer these questions, my work will focus on the technical/digital aspects of knowledge management: the platform requirements, as well as its social aspects: how do people use such tools and how can this be encouraged?

Before starting my exchange programme at Harbin Institute of Technology, I spent one month of traveling alone through China. As I was going to spend two months in Harbin, this seemed like a good preparation to see what else this country had to offer. This has been an incredible experience of meeting new people, handling new situations and getting a basic grasp of a new language, which I plan to explore more in the future.
