Each issue of Continuum, a semi-annual publication, focuses on significant news and issues facing the Wisconsin long-term care provider community, along with legislative updates and information on the top products and service suppliers serving Wisconsin providers.

Research Assistant and Committee Clerk in the Office of Wisconsin State Representative Kim Hixson (D-Whitewater), who served as Chairman of the State Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities.– COMMITTEE CLERK: Served as Clerk of the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee, a 12-member committee charged with oversight of higher-education policy issues. Assisted Chairman Hixson and committee members in conducting public hearings, executive sessions and informational hearings on legislation referred to the committee. Acted as the committee's public records custodian. – OFFICE MANAGER: Supervised an internship program that trained and managed 15 interns during the 2009-10 legislative session. Managed office scheduling and message calendar. – POLICY: Acted as legislative director and principle staff director for the drafting of five bills that became law during the 2009-10 legislative session including: 2009 AB-15 (passed as a part of the state budget), AB-159, AB-333, AB-415 and SB-431. Coordinated the drafting of more than a dozen other bills that made it through various stages of the legislative process. – PRESS: Conducted press operations for an office that distributed nearly 100 weekly informational columns on Rep. Hixson's legislative agenda that were published in such area newspapers as the Milton Courier, Janesville Gazette, Daily Jefferson County Union and Beloit Daily News. Served as main press contact and on-the-record spokesman. – OUTREACH: Oversaw community outreach efforts that resulted in more than 50 community meetings and listening sessions being held across the 43rd Assembly District.– CONSTITUENT RELATIONS: Coordinated the production of approximately 5,000 unique constituent relations letters on everything from responding to citizen's concerns about a bill in committee to assisting the jobless with accessing unemployment insurance benefits.– BUDGET: Allocated and efficiently managed a $12,000 State Assembly Office budget.

– Served as a half-time adviser to Wisconsin State Rep. Gary Hebl (D-Sun Prairie) on press, policy and political matters.– Developed and implemented Rep. Hebl's legislative agenda, assisted with conducting constituent relations, and facilitated inter-governmental advocacy and media communications.– Designed and produced Rep. Hebl's legislative website.– Wrote, designed and coordinated the publication of Rep. Hebl's annual legislative newsletter and questionnaire.– Volunteered for Rep. Hebl's successful 2008 re-election campaign. Wrote fundraising letters, endorsement questionnaires, press releases, helped craft campaign strategy and assisted with setting up events.

– Managed the day-to-day operations of Grand Rapids attorney and Democratic nominee, David LaGrand's campaign for the 29th Michigan State Senate District.– Responsible for managing campaign staff, interns and volunteers. – Conducted the fundraising efforts of a campaign that raised $125,000 and canvassed more than 40,000 doors. – Helped craft campaign strategy, took photos, and staffed the candidate during gubernatorial visits and fundraising events.– Wrote press releases, web content, endorsement questionnaires, campaign literature, radio advertising copy and facilitated the direct mail campaign.

– Assisted with crafting the media strategy of Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager. – Wrote content for the Wisconsin Department of Justice website, drafted public service announcements, responded to media inquiries, and developed talking points framing the Attorney General's public message.– Helped coordinate information campaigns on a number of different consumer protection issues.– Designed, produced and coordinated the production of the 2003-05 DOJ Biennial Report, a publication required by law.– Volunteered on General Lautenschlager's 2006 campaign, including assisting her during the 2005 and 2006 Democratic Party of Wisconsin State Conventions.
