I was tasked with leading and delivering the University’s strategy for the recruitment of home students in the North West. I was responsible for pro-actively developing effective stakeholder relationships with schools, colleges, higher education institutions and other organisations supporting students studying in the UK, and will be required to achieve mutually agreed recruitment targets.I can deliver wide range of activities designed to raise applicants’ awareness of higher education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to promote the University of Bradford and to support applicants on their university journey. This involves leading seminars and workshops on a wide range of topics, liaising with academic colleagues to provide interactive activities, attending exhibitions and working with applicants to provide one to one guidance.

As a member of the Admissions team, I was required to support the Student Education Service while providing a high quality admissions service for students and staff, for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. I was also required to oversee the admissions processes, support conversion and associated admissions activities. This required me to work flexibly with members of staff within the Student Education Service in order to achieve mutual targets and arrange open days.

I was responsible for coordinating and supporting University Admissions practices and processes, providing specialist information and advice to applicants and academic and Student Education Service colleagues and responding to enquiries. As well as processing applications and results, liaising with Admissions Tutors and other relevant colleagues as required, and making decisions to clearly defined entry requirements, including maintaining appropriate systems for the processing of applications, issuing offers and recording the decisions on the Student Information System/Customer Relationship Management system. The role also required the monitoring and reporting off applicant data, including offer and conversion rates, retention rates and monitoring performance against entry qualifications, using this data to make recommendations to help ensure Schools/Faculty targets are met.

I was the sole school representative for Sport and Exercise Sciences and I also served as a programme representative for Sport & Exercise Science.I was voted to this position by my fellow students and then assessed via an assessment centre by university staff from which I was then selected. In these roles, I attended various meeting with students, fellow school reps, senior course staff and the pro-dean of education. The purpose of those meetings was to ameliorate the course and faculty through feedback from students and university staff. I was able to successfully contributed to meetings which implemented changes through the course modules via student feedback, often resulting in the modules changing and the first year structure changing completely. I was also able to have an influence on faculty level decisions for the future direction of the faculty.

My work experience involved being assigned to a team and becoming familiar with the software packages they use with my producing and presenting a final presentation to managerial staff. I also worked across the companies industries gaining insight into business risk management as well as engineering. Having completed my work experience I applied for and was granted a student scholarship by FM Global to support my education in Leeds.
