"So you take pictures of boxes?"In November of 2016 a very small start-up getting its feet under itself was looking for someone who could manage its marketing. As the 11th employee, first one dedicated to marketing, and with no formal budget, I needed to give a company that knew it was going somewhere the appearance it deserved. I led TemperPack through a full rebranding effort that involved developing the logo and systems of design, a brand voice, product photography, sales materials and videos, redeveloping the website, office space, and on-product messaging. Basically, if it looks like TemperPack and talks like TemperPack, odds are I had a hand in it.

"Don't just watch TV, Art DirecTV."Seldom do in-house agencies make great work, except when everyone holds themselves to outside standards. In my short freelance stint before accepting my role at TemperPack, I helped DirecTV throw a Super Bowl party with T-Swift, businesses buy ad space across devices, and host a major event for all of its largest business accounts.

"Media is the message."A band of creative misfits armed with the analytics of a media agency can create work that breaks through the clutter. I worked alongside other teams of creatives to rethink how Nespresso sells coffee and Bose cancels out noise in the NFL. And on top of the creative work, my grandfather worked out of the same 32 Avenue of the Americas when it was Bell Labs years and years ago, which brought the whole thing together full circle, pun intended.

"Practice makes perfect, do it again."I didn't just concept, but fully executed work that went live every day, crafting fully-designed, print/web/OOH/display/insert/post pieces. As part of the MullenLowe Profero team, I helped Cointreau stand out in stores full of other liqueurs and sold Texas toast made by a bakery in New York in grocery stores across the country.

"We focused on bringing culture to brand strategy."Developing messaging and creative that (re)introduced brands to consumers using smart placements, media hacks, and other integrated advertising platforms where young audiences play. I helped introduce NBA fans to Kaiser Permanente, rethought packaging design for McDonald's, threw concerts with Jay-Z for Budweiser, and designed 'shoeflakes' to sell Jordans at Champs Sports.

"You want a job?"At the end of the summer, the family at Martin asked our team to stay on while the second year of Brandcenter had started. We happily obliged and helped them craft a pitch for Pinnacle Vodka and design a savings platform for Walmart customers.

"Wait, you guys can do what?"Interns can surprise you. Paired up with a fellow Creative Technologist from school, we developed some unique creative ideas to help bolster the traditional media campaigns the teams at TMA had already concepted. We helped Morgan Stanley connect with people based on connects rather than location and Discover send more useful pieces of direct mail to potential customers.

"The stakes are too high."Politics and advertising are more alike than you'd think, both are dirty businesses where great things can be accomplished. I designed and developed candidate websites, microsites, and advertisements during the 2010 election season. As a team, we designed and built tools for candidates running for office, political action committees, and non-profit organizations that helped engage volunteers, raise funds, and communicate with potential voters.
