Some recent projects that I've been involved with include:*Partnering with the Lenoir Housing Authority and community organizations to plan, design, and build a memorial monument at the former site of Freedman High School, an important historical site for the African American community and the historic Freedman neighborhood.*Managing various components of greenway trail and sidewalk projects, including alignments, master plans, easement acquisitions, grants/funding, design, and construction.*Serving as the interim Downtown Development Director/Main Street Manager and participating in the recruitment and hiring process for the new director. *Leading a team of neighborhood stakeholders through a visioning process for a blighted corridor in order to adopt a Small Area Plan addressing historic preservation, code enforcement, land use mix, infill design standards, and streetscape plans.*Partnering with the Police Chief to innovate code enforcement in Lenoir, spearheading an omnibus code enforcement ordinance and splitting the process of code enforcement between the police and planning department.

*Managed a community sustainability action plan under the City's Sustainability Director, working closely with a consultant team to facilitate conversations among civic leaders, elected officials, local artists, business owners, residents, and other interested parties on topics like local food systems, livability, and healthy economy.*Served as project manager for a revitalization plan and community design vision for a Main Street corridor. Duties included coordination with elected officials, managing a stakeholder task force, engaging a diverse community through collaborative public visioning events as well as giving public presentations, working with the local Main Street District, writing the final vision plan, and ushering the document through the public planning board approval process.*Served as Interim Planning Manager, supervising a staff of two.*Managed dozens of smaller projects, including Master Plans, Conditional Use Permits, Planned Unit Developments, and Zoning amendments, using creative problem-solving to build consensus between staff, applicants, and neighbors. Duties included coordination between technical review committee members, analyzing proposals, writing reports, facilitating community meetings and presenting at public hearings.*Tracked development and population projections to manage a Capital Improvement Program for projected growth -- including parks, open space, potable water, and road capacity.

*Co-authored two planning guides on incentives for infill and revitalization projects for the Florida Department of Community Affairs.*Co-authored 3 research papers on local government coordination of school siting decisions.*Interviewed policymakers and school principals, conducted windshield surveys, and reviewed local zoning and land development regulations.*Wrote project and paper proposals, paper abstracts, and status reports to fulfill funding requirements.*Developed visual aides, including graphics, flow charts, maps, tables, conceptual diagrams, and PowerPoint presentations.

*Developed a swim lesson program for on campus family housing through a partnership with the Department of Housing*Supervised lifeguard staff and assisted in hiring and training.*Coordinated lifeguard and swim lesson schedules.*Wrote a risk management plan, an employee handbook, and training materials.
