• Design industrial gantry cranes, boat lifts, and marine forklifts with lifting capacities up to 1000 metric tons. Model entire machine assemblies in Solidworks. Create parts with material properties and fabrication processes in mind. Release engineering drawings & BOMs.• Perform in-depth analysis of all structural and load bearing components. Analyze stresses based on AISC and ASME standards. Utilize Solidworks Simulation for static analysis. Create spreadsheets to improve work flow of complex, repeated calculations. • Design custom spreaders for unique lifting applications including tandem machines, multiple sub spreaders, and hydraulically/mechanically actuated features.• Practice high performance habits to succeed in a fast paced, demanding work environment. Tight deadlines and a small engineering team leaves little margin for error, requiring any unexpected issues to be solved swiftly and economically.

• Design and model chutework for conveyor transfer points, light structures, and MSHA compliant guarding. Smaller designs include field modifications, a gantry crane for a 150m bridge, and spill containment for 55 gallon drums.• Size equipment for industrial mining projects including motors, reducers, dust collectors, wet scrubbers, blowers, and compressors.• Heavily involved in engineering procurement of mechanical equipment and structural steel. Issue engineering request for quotes and purchases, correspond with vendors during the bidding process, and track fabrication of equipment until delivery at site.• Coordinate purchasing efforts across engineering disciplines and logistic departments. Organize and assign activities to keep pace with project schedules. Provide direction and insight to drafters and designers.• Take accurate field measurements and quickly implement solutions to correct design flaws or fabrication errors• Perform hand calculations for structural steel analysis and sizing of mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, compressors, blowers, dust collectors and scrubbers.• Create assembly drawings including detailed Bill of Materials.•Solicit quotes from vendors and perform technical bid analyses with budget considerations prior tosubmitting a formal recommendation to the client•Issue engineering purchase and change orders and track equipment from fabrication to delivery at site• Maintain vendor recommended spares list for a multi-million dollar project and procure capital, commissioning, and 2 year operating spares as required.
