About John Lockwood

John W. Lockwood designs and implements networking systems in reconfigurable hardware, specifically in the areas of low latency networking, Internet security, and electronic commerce. He is the founder and CEO of Algo-Logic Systems, Inc. Previously, he had managed the NetFPGA program in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University.Prior to joining Stanford in January of 2007, Lockwood led the Reconfigurable Network Group in the Applied Research Laboratory at Washington University in St. Louis. Lockwood and his research group developed the Field programmable Port Extender (FPX) to enable rapid prototype of extensible network modules in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. As an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, Lockwood has served as the principle investigator on dozens of federal and corporate grants. He has published over 100 papers and patents that describe technologies for providing extensible network services, Quality of Service (QoS), and security in wireless LANs and in high-speed networks. He was tenured in 2006.John has worked for AT&T Bell Laboratories, IBM, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). John also served as a co-founder and chief scientist of Global Velocity, a networking startup company focused on high-speed data security and created Gradebot.com to automate processing of database transactions for education and electronic commerce.Specialties: Computer networkingComputer ScienceLow Latency Internet systemsReconfigurable hardwareData SecurityFPGA Design
