Kerntaken van de Provincie zijn:Duurzame ruimtelijke ontwikkeling en inrichting, waaronder waterbeheer;Milieu, energie en klimaat;Vitaal platteland;Regionale bereikbaarheid en regionaal openbaar vervoer;Regionale economie;Culturele infrastructuur en monumentenzorg;Kwaliteit van het openbaar bestuur.
