Privacy and confidentiality over digital data is, famously, a tricky thing to get right. The consequence of this is a lack of trust that our data will remain safe and secure in the hands of the people we hand it over to. That doesn't just mean trusting one organisation - it means trusting everyone that they might share it with. And even if everyone in that ring of organisations has our best interests at heart, do we trust that they have the cyber and data security practices needed to defend our data against attackers?Data is currently both a valuable asset and a vulnerable target. The world of contemporary data management is built around principles of tight information silos, access control and restriction.The technology that we are building at Optalysys is designed to accelerate Fully Homomorphic Encryption processes by several orders of magnitude, enabling computational processing over encrypted data at scale and opening the door for an era of trustless data collaboration.The FHE ecosystem has long needed specialist hardware to kickstart this revolution, but that's not the only thing we focus on at Optalysys. We're also solving the problem of accessing and using this hardware through our Explore cloud platform and our Innovation Lab, our framework for engagement and consultancy around FHE. A world in which trust is no longer a primary consideration when it comes to data sharing and collaboration will look very different with respect to services and application functionality. It's a world with less friction around information management, less risk, and more value. My task as head of strategic innovation is to position Optalysys in such a way that we play a key role in this new future and to develop our product through commercial engagement, technical guidance and market knowledge.This places me at the nexus between next-generation optical computing, cutting-edge cryptography, and the development of our software and hardware ecosystem.
