About Jan-Willem Polman

Jan-Willem Polman is a sailor, entrepreneur and mechanical engineer who specialised in synthetics technology. From 2008-2010 he sailed around the world with his wife and two young children. After that, he gave up corporate life and devoted himself to being an entrepreneur. He is currently the head of several water sports companies that specialise in ropes, Lijnenspecialist.nl and PremiumRopes.com. He also developed the D-SPLICER needles that are used widely by sailors and riggers. Jan-Willem wrote 'Handboek splitsen van moderne lijnen', a splicing handbook published in the Netherlands by Hollandia. The English version -'Splicing modern ropes, a practical handbook' published in April 2016 by Bloomsbury.
