As a candidate technology, electromagnetic actuation permits relatively simple fabrication and wireless operation- Produced prototype actuator via frbrication from electroplated permalloy (Fe-Ni), on sillicon chip/frame- Characterized device parameters and performed 2nd-order nonlinear dynamic modeling and simulation in MATLAB- Applied Feedforward & Feedback Control in Simulink on the actuator for sinusoidal trajectory generation to extend its range of motion (from less than 10 µm to over 100 µm) - Built op-amp circuit and conducted LabVIEW programming to experimentally test actuator responses using input-linearized excitation, which shows good alignment with simulated results- Achieved targeted generation of vertical translation despite inherent tendency towards rotational motion through effective frequency selection and input linearization- Paper “Design, Fabrication, and Dynamics of an Electromagnetic Vertical Microactuator for Endomicroscopy” as first author accepted for Oral Presentation at the 2017 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, Munich, Germany -
