During my time at DRW, I was tasked with automating several tedious manual processes for the Facilities team to increase productivity. Using Python/Flask, I developed a chatbot that hooked into Mattermost, an open-source messaging platform that reached out to a number of Rails 5 applications that I wrote. The Facilities team saw a 90% decrease in the amount of time that they had to spend on those manual processes.I also created reports reconciling discrepancies between two services using Oracle, Python, and Microsoft Reporting Services.

My team was authorized and responsible for updating/maintaining customer records in the production database while also creating tools for customer service representatives to hit the database using APIs. We were essentially trying to fully automate our team's responsibilities. During my time there, we were able to build a number of tools that brought down our need to SSH into the database by 75%.

Through Teach for America, I worked as a Special Education teacher in the Chicago Public Schools system at a low-income high school called Harper High School. Harper received national attention when it was featured in a two-week segment of NPR's "This American Life." While at Harper, I taught 5 classes of special education Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Trignometry. My students on average scored 50-60% higher on state standardized tests than the state average.
