About Jennie Z. Young, Ph.D.

The brain has always intrigued me, and there is still so much we don't know! Our brains are at the core of everything we do and who we are—they store our memories, fuel our passions, drive our creativity, and shape our societies. To thrive as individuals and communities, we must prioritize brain health. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴.I hold a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Alberta and spent 14 years abroad at MIT, where I served as scientific chief-of-staff to Nobel Laureate Susumu Tonegawa and to Picower Institute Director Li-Huei Tsai. My research expertise is in the fields of learning and memory and Alzheimer’s disease, with publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, including 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘊𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨, and 𝘕𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘯.My career has been driven by a deep love for science and a commitment to enabling community progress by bringing diverse minds together. My strength is in identifying connections among seemingly unrelated ideas and groups of people, and weaving them into a coherent strategic vision that helps us navigate complex challenges.
