What is life? How the different molecular parts play together and act as a consitent whole? How living cells share their ressources to adapt and interact with their surounding environment? All these questions are of fundamental nature. To answer them one should in a first attempt concentrate on bacterial model organism.Since 1993 I am interested in the analysis and visualizaton of data from gene control and expression experiments to find some answers to the questions shown above. I am interested in bacterial model systems such as Bacillus subtilis or Staphylococcus aureus but very recently also on more complex bacterial communities and higher organsims' cells.Was ist Leben? Wie spielen dessen molekularen Einzelteile zusammen? Wie steuern Zellen die Aufteilung ihrer Ressourcen? Dies alles sind Fragen grundsätzlicher Natur, an deren Antwort man sich am besten auf der Ebene einfacher, am besten bakterieller Modelle nähert.Seit 1993 beschäftige ich mich mit Methoden, Datenanylseverfahren und Möglichkeiten der Visualisierung komplexer Daten, um meinen Teil zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen beizutragen, meist an bakteriellen Modellsystemen wie Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus und neuerdings auch komplexeren mikrobiellen Lebensgemeinschaften und höheren Zellen.
