Summary:After my dissertation (2004-09-25) have I been working 6 years in basic research about hematopoietic stem cells, 3 years with Leukemia which was more clinically oriented and 1year with type 2 diabetes. Main task has been research, but also education for PhD and post doc’s, including being course coordinator for a postgraduate course. In addition, I have also been head or manager for several cytometry core facilities, including head of SciLifeLab mass cytometry unit at Linköping University. I have also work as immunologist for 1 1/2 year in the pharmaceutical industry before my Ph.D studies.Motivation:In the beginning of my scientific career was I focused on understanding how stem cell function. However, I have gradually become more interested in clinically relevant research. I find it most satisfying to understand and contribute to solve problems/issues both in theory and “hands-on” which can get a project move forward. Especially the rather new technic of mass cytometry and just recently spectral cytometry has attained my interest. I see great potentials in these new technics in combination with different algorithms to study cell expression, but issues must be solved before we can fully utilize their potential.Methodology:I am proficient in cell biology with focus on the hematopoietic system both in human andmouse and In Vivo models. I have very strong background of multi-parameter cytometry using many different platforms from BD or Beckman Coulter and others and their connected software. I also gained in the last 5 years’ experience of mass cytometry and image cytometry and the connected software to these platforms. Just recently have I gained some experience of spectral cytometry. In addition of using classic software analyzing data, I have experience of different algorithms software to study protein expression at a single cell level using for example SPADE or t-Sne on web-based or benchtop PC platform. I have also large experience of beads isolation techniques and handling of different biological material from rat, mouse or humans. I do have some experience of GLP and SOP.Person:I consider myself as analytical and critical person with broad ability to move projects on my own. I find it also satisfying to supervise students/Post Doc's or work in collaboration with other scientists. Also, I find it very gratifying to hold seminar and lectures for different type of audiences, laymen or professionals. In addition, It is also most interesting to gain new insights through reading scientific literature or nonscientific literature.
