I despaired over Fukuyama (1992) and Huntington (1995) even as I was comforted by Etzioni setting right social attitudes (1993), as Fukuyama bails out on his end of history thesis (2003... ongoing). I'm open to Crenshaw (2011) proposing open-ended investigations of overlapping and conflicting intersectionalities of race, gender, class, sexuality, nation, and other inequalities. Still, I learn... *Straddling multiple cultures personally and professionally, I am a builder. Where there are no bridges, I forge. With bridges fallen into disrepair, I appraise, remodel and make good. My purpose is to advance the sum of the parts of our common humanity. I am privileged, having lived and worked across cultures in multiracial Malaysia and now in multicultural Australia. Born, schooled and worked half my life as a journalist in Malaysia, I seek to advance my contribution to the vocation and peoples in our global village out of Melbourne.
