About K Chess

I'm a writer and teacher based in the Boston area. My literary/speculative fiction debut, FAMOUS MEN WHO NEVER LIVED (Tin House Books) was a Most Anticipated Book of 2019 at The Verge, Barnes & Noble Sci-Fi & Fantasy Blog, and more. My short stories have been honored by the 2017 Pushcart Prize, Midwestern Gothic's 2015 Lake Prize and the 2015 Nelson Algren Award. I am a member of the XPRIZE's Science Fiction Advisory Council and received a WK Rose Fellowship through Vassar College. I have an MFA from Southern Illinois University. I currently teach writing at GrubStreet, and I'm a Staff Reader for Quarterly West.
