Served as one of the domain experts in Rust, helping various teams use best practices to increase code testability and drive process improvements. Used software architecture and design principles to make my teams existing projects more testable resulting in easier to detect regressions and less manual QA required. Advocated for idiomatic language usage and leveraging existing features available to us to help reduce tool bloat. Mentored coworkers in the new language choice and advised on different aspects and nuances that could affect the platform.

Started at Transparent as one of the first engineers and as a Rust domain expert -- I was responsible for helping my teammates get up to speed with a new language and helped them navigate the learning curve. As part of a small team used Terraform, Packer, and Docker to create a distributed systems test net which allowed us to quickly iterate on the first version of the platform. Learned blockchain technology and how to build governance models to automate decision making. Created an adapter project that encapsulated details of specific financial APIs and abstracted that complexity away from the consumer while still allowing API specific configuration to be passed in. This adapter project was built in a way that allowed other members of my team to easily extend it without having to do too much digging. Incorporated modern software engineering practices to ensure our platform was well-tested and had reliable.

As a software engineer, I learned the importance of code correctness when working in critical systems (in this case autonomous vehicle safety). Installed a property-based testing framework that exposed root causes for some pre-existing issues and served to prevent any regressions. Helped build and maintain our CI process and worked on Ansible automation for provisioning systems. Used OpenGL and GLSL to build a prototype LiDAR point colorizer using webcam data and linear algebra transformations.
