About K. Grace Johnson

As a Research Scientist at Hewlett Packard Labs, I work on integrating quantum computing with supercomputing. My goal is to develop hybrid quantum/classical approaches to solve challenging real-world problems in the near term. In my PhD at Stanford, I developed frameworks to parallelize and accelerate quantum chemistry simulations. Quantum chemistry is a field full of those challenging real-world problems, ranging from designing sustainable materials to combat climate change to the discovery of new drugs. Improving the high-performance computing tools we use to simulate quantum systems is crucial to further research, whether those tools are based on frameworks that are purely classical or ones that include quantum processors.My research expertise includes GPU and distributed parallel computing, tensor network methods, quantum circuit simulation, two-electron integral code generation, and ab initio exciton models to study light-harvesting systems.
