Luan Tran has 25 years of experience representing investors in international disputes. He is among the few first-chair trial and international arbitration lawyers with active U.S. and Southeast Asia practices. A frequent speaker and author on Southeast Asia, particularly his native Vietnam, he was recently recognized as a “Trailblazer” by the Recorder for his work in the region. Luan was a partner and member of King & Spalding’s international arbitration practice, ranked No. 1 worldwide by Global Arbitration Review 2022-2024. He was previously a partner of another leading international litigation firm, Boies Schiller & Flexner, where he was in charge of its Southeast Asia practice. Luan was a Board member and is a current Council member of the AAA-ICDR. He was also a member of Law 360 International Arbitration Advisory Committee. He also sat an an arbitrator on Vietnam-related matters, and recently presided over one of the first ICC hearings in Vietnam. In addition to his international arbitration experience, Luan is recognized as a leading attorney in ownership and partnership disputes between co-founders of technology companies. In a profile of his work in co-founder lawsuits, such as the Snapchat and Yik Yak matters, entitled "Want to Sue a Startup? Call This Man," Forbes magazine called him the “go-to lawyer” in this area. During his career, Luan has recovered nearly $200 million on behalf of plaintiffs in his tech co-founder cases. Tran's experience and success for the plaintiffs gives him significant advantages and insights when representing the defendants. Luan also co-founded the largest minority-owned disputes law firm in the U.S. (with over 35 attorneys) that was recognized by the National Law Journal as one of the top ten litigation boutiques in the country. Luan has been honored as one of the best attorneys in California and the U.S. by various national bar organizations and publications. The former head of a U.S. Attorney’s Office who opposed Luan in a co-founder jury trial called Luan “one of the finest trial lawyers I’ve faced, and I’ve faced some of the best in the country.”
