 Setup, operated, maintained, troubleshot, and removed military HF and VHF man-portable radio systems and associated equipment including antennas, headsets, and harnesses within 4 Squadron (Saskatoon) of the 38 Signals Regiment. Installed, maintained, and repaired military field telephone systems and networks deployed during field exercises.  Provided mission-critical communications capabilities to 400 personnel from deployed subunits of 38 Canadian Brigade Group as well as Army National Guard troops from Minnesota during Exercise BISON WARRIOR (2012) at CFB Shilo as part of a twenty-member Communications detachment. Performed monthly radio checks with other 38 Signals Regiment subunits and ensured communication quality. Ensured communications equipment, including the AN/PRC-521 and -522 UHF, and AN/TRC-510 HF QRT (Quick Reaction Terminal) radios in vehicles and buildings were functional through in-unit radio checks and standard internal equipment diagnostics.  Completed St. John’s Ambulance First Aid training, including CPR and Standard First Aid.

Rocanville, Sk

 Established, configured, and controlled new and existing user accounts and access to corporate systems for the 600-person Rocanville minesite using Microsoft Active Directory as part of a 4-person IT department. Imaged, repaired, and deployed over 70 Dell Optiplex desktop and Latitude laptop machines in the course of continuing user support, new user deployments, and ongoing Windows 7 upgrades. Conducted a complete inventory of warehoused legacy hardware inherited from former site contractors. Established an inventory tracking system for the IT department’s pool of 10 temporary loan laptops. Gained experience in the use of IBM Mainframe accounts for equipment inventory and ordering, as well as basic end-user support.

 Established a CAT-5 cabling network for networking, closed-circuit cameras and access control systems for a new FedEx facility as part of a four-man cabling crew. Expanded the existing wireless network in 5 elementary schools across the Saskatoon Public School Division through the installation of new cabling and Cisco wireless access points.  Installed ~400 metres of fiber-optic cabling through underground conduit at the Warman Homes site, creating the infrastructure for a high-speed inter-building network.
