Who am I? I'm an executive who has led large, complex initiatives for Fortune 500 companies but still gets thrilled when I help a user adopt a technology that improves her job. I was raised in the country with a healthy work ethic. When you believe you are above doing the job required, you're overhead.The role of IT is to understand corporate challenges, work with partners to identify solutions and enable them to do what they do best. This may be as grandiose as a new cloud based ERP system that integrates to a core data warehouse running on flash memory down to simply sitting with key business analysts to create a consolidated report in Excel which helps them recognize KPI trends on demand. IT is not about impressing people with your knowledge of the latest technology trends and industry leading movements or showing how quickly we can spend money. IT is about empowering employees with the tools they need to perform the best they can, and the knowledge of how to use those tools.Couple other key points about me:-I like a challenge. A CIO once said to our Executive Management, "If you want something done, tell Keith it can't be done". That was the highest compliment I have ever received and I was extremely humbled by it. -I enjoy making others successful. If spending a few moments with my team, my peers, or others across the organization help them accomplish their goals, then it is a good investment.-I exploit my team. I focus on being an advocate for my team and work to identify the strengths each individual brings to the table. I make it clear to them what I recognize to be their strengths and my intent to leverage their individual strengths for use by the company and as such the team has little to no weakness. -I have fun. Levity can make challenges bearable and bring teams together.
