Main assignment was to convert Worldspace from a project stage to commercial launch of services. Represented the Principal shareholders PCCW as their nominee in the Telecom JV. Responsible for delivering the business along with the MD and fiduciary responsibility over the resources of the company and protecting the interests of the principal shareholders.

The key role in Worldspace as the CFO was to initially work on the regulatory clearance to set up a 100% foreign entity in India and set up the finance function in India to be in readiness for the business commencement. The other avenue was to create a business and pricing model for selling satellite space to broadcasters and getting broadcasters on board to broadcast content.

STAR TV : DY CFOStarted out as Sr Manager Finance reporting to the CFO : I had joined at the initial inception of the Company. Satellite Television did not exist in the country then. My main responsibility was to oversee the setup and operations of the channels, which at that time were mainly Star Plus, Channel [V] and Star Movies. Since satellite television was a new terrain, the key job was to devise systems and processes that ensured, at one end transparency and tracking of costs and on the other end building in and enforcing the processes. Most of these processes and formats are currently the norm in the Satellite TV Industry. By the time I left I was the Dy CFO.

Joined as a Management Trainee and then was posted in one of the new Divisions of ITC – The International Business Division. I reported to the Divisional Financial Controller.The key role was of a Management Accountant – budget planning and working closely as a support to operations. Also budget reviews and reporting to the Corporate headquarters in Calcutta.
