Signed on as regular service in the Navy from 1986 to 1998, I was 19. Join the Navy and see the world they said. Saw a little bit of it in the Best Little Navy in the World. Worked in Japanese ICT MNC, NTT Communications, from 1999 to 2008. Saw a lot of mythical Japan shattered, discovered some other interesting ones, and literally savoured their business world. Rejoined the Singapore Public Service for a short stint from 2008 to 2010. Re-experienced the structured bureaucratic world in large organisations and the small politics within. Since 2010, joined the Earth Observatory of Singapore, a Research Center of Excellence, in the Nanyang Technological University. Understood better what goes around, comes around, not just beneath our world. Did some great work at each stage too. Seems cryptic, but I suppose one’s life experiences are pretty much unique to oneself. The important thing is that the story is vibrant to tell, and interesting to listen to. Not really chasing just for topping up the bank account anymore. Looking for something that will give back, help, alleviate some pain. Those who have gone through a major medical event will understand. Volunteered with the Singapore Heart Foundation. The Odyssey....land....shore...
