Hello, hello! My name is Carlos, I am the founder of k9HS and creator for our training philosophy and training programs at our Canine High School. As head trainer I am very passionate about teaching with mindfulness when communicating with pet parents. Some situations may be very private and I will always respect your privacy and be tactful when bringing up an observation. While I will always be tactful, respectful and kind, I will also be factual and honest with every parent when there is something that is causing a dog harm. It is the same with my canine students, I offer pups the ability to consent, use agency and make choices while they learn. Whether you are one of my canine students or human students in one of the School programs, or an intern mentee in my teaching program, working on becoming a certified professional dog trainer, you will always be treated with mindfulness.Over the last couple of decades I have developed extensive hands-on experience in real-life situations, working full-time as a dog trainer at a professional capacity. Also as a volunteer for many rescues and shelters where I developed experience with shelter dog behavior. I specialize in force-free, scientific evidence based dog training across many different training models (methods), and I am a LIMA compliant. My experience ranges from basic training, puppy training, and socialization, to trick dog and agility training, rehabilitation, trauma recovery, aggression, and all types of canine anxiety.During my career I have invested in strengthening and growing a very robust education in canine behavior through continuing education based on evidence-based behavioral learning science and ethology. I have obtained several certifications, I am Certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers CCPDT, as well as a Certified Mentor Trainer for Animal Behavior College and Catch Canine Trainers Academy. And a Certified AKC FIT DOG Canine Fitness Instructor, AKC Temperament Test Evaluator, and an Evaluator for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen, S.T.A.R.
