Tom leads Knight Architects' strategic development in UK and Global Markets. His team works at a wide variety of scales – from national infrastructure schemes through to one-off bespoke structures. Regardless of the scale of the project, they focuses on delivering appropriate, fitting design, through a clear understanding of the constraints and close collaboration with the client, engineers and fabricators. Tom is project architect for the Kruunusillat scheme in Helsinki, and is passionate about the drive to Net Zero, particularly how infrastructure can instigate sustainable ways of living. This has led to a focus on active-mobility projects, as well as modular design. Tom's projects are often in sensitive sites, and focus putting people at the heart of decision-making, leading to inclusive designs which achieve early stakeholder support. Tom is a Design Council Expert, sits on the IABSE Executive Committee, and ICE's Knowledge Network, and enjoys working alongside other bridge specialists from engineering, design and fabrication backgrounds to design bridges which blend structural logic, and thoughtful design with a strong, site-specific narrative.
