I started this job on a Part time basis, organizing jobs, creating proposal templates, typing job proposals, depositing monies and doing follow through for a single technician. I took this side job work and brought it into a full time business, in high demand in the DC Metropolitan area, serving customers in nearby Maryland & Virginia, with the majority of our clientele in the upper NW side and Capitol Hill in DC. I learned the business of Installation, Service & Repair of Gas Logs & Gas Fireplaces. The Company also did minor carpentry, plumbing and small home improvement & repairs, with the main focus on the Gas Fireplace & Gas Logs, also installing granite and marble headers and footers for fireplaces.I learned hands on how to correctly do estimates for new installations as well as troubleshooting & minor repairs. On the office side of the business, I scheduled customer appointments, based on appointment need, i.e , estimates, service or repairs on existing equipment; I helped set base fees per visit types; order inventory for stock/ trucks; type/deliver proposals via email/faxUS mail. I set policies, creating office & technician policy & employee handbooks; as we grew, we brought on a total of 3 techs & 1 office helper. I researched & reviewed software and purchased it for our customer database to utilize for follow through with any and all correspondence. I utilized Quickbooks business version for all accounting and tracking of all correspondence that was then incorporated into new customer software. I tracked all customer contact, ensuring no customer fell through the cracks.I brought a small, side job business Into a highly demanding & lucrative business, competing with several large companies in the metropolitan area. I created service contracts with customers, to continue steady flow of income in the slow months.I did all of the AR, AP and accounting reports for monthly, quarterly and annual taxes.
