I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at Columbia University with a strong interest in fluid dynamics and its applications in environmental and aerospace engineering. My coursework and hands-on projects, including designing an autonomous algicide dispersing watercraft and developing coral-cleaning robotics, have deepened my interest in these fields. On the professional side, internships at Johns Hopkins APL and Draper Laboratory further fueled my enthusiasm for staying at the cutting edge of engineering. These experiences have solidified my desire to leverage fluid dynamics to drive innovation in environmental sustainability and aerospace technologies. I’m passionate about using my skills to contribute to impactful projects that address real-world challenges and push the boundaries of engineering.

Vehicle Design LeadColumbia Space Initiative Sep 2021 - PresentNew York, New York, United StatesLed the Vehicle Design AQUAs team in designing and manufacturing an Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) with algal monitoring and control capabilities under our PI, Dr. Joaquim Goes. Personally designed and manufactured: the waterproofing system, the propulsion system, and electrical mounting hardware. Ensured design was stable enough to mount the external algicide mixing & dispersal systems. Worked on a proposal for NASA's 2023 Micro-g NExT competition. Project was to design an Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) that would carry supplies to astronauts landed in the ocean in case of an aborted launch. A full proposal detailing all design decisions was written (attached below). Personally worked on hull design and personally developed a manufacturing process that minimized weight while still fitting and requiring all required equipment. Authored proposal sections pertaining to the work done including sections on: materials, manufacturing, waterproofing, etc.. Edited the proposal in its entirety. Currently the device has been repurposed to autonomously take water quality samples and has received funding from the New York Parks Conservancy for multiple prototypes to monitor algae bloom management in parks across New York City.Did a variety of work on a rocket that was entered into the Spaceport America cup including manufactured carbon fiber fins and other composites work. -
Mechanical Engineering & Systems Packaging InternDraper May 2024 - Aug 2024Cambridge, Massachusetts, United StatesDesigned and modeled breakout boards, cooperatively iterated on board design with electrical engineers to ensure they met mechanical and electrical requirements. Conducted a thorough thermal analysis that integrated multiple levels of hand calculations as well as ANSYS analysis. Designed text fixtures that maximized access to board components while still providing all necessary structural support. Defended thermal analysis and text fixture design to project leads in multiple rounds of design reviews. Created assembly and part drawings of test apparatus for manufacturing using ANSI standards and GD&T best practices. As part of an intern team, designed a micro rover with drive, steering, and suspension systems for a simulated lunar environment. The project was constrained by SWaP, timeline, budget and other miscellaneous constraints defined by the "customer". After justifying all decisions during design reviews with multiple levels of Draper senior technical staff, rapidly developed a functional prototype. -
Mechanical Engineering Intern And AmbassadorThe Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory May 2023 - Feb 2024Laurel, Maryland, United StatesSecret Level US Security Clearance.Mechanical Engineering Intern in the Force Projection Sector of the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU APL), specifically working for the KMT Ocean Systems and Engineering group. Was later brought on as the JHU APL ambassador at Columbia University. Given an open ended design task for a machine that would assist in the construction of a novel piece of proprietary technology. This design work included: determining the specific requirements the device would need to fit, creating Computer Aided Design (CAD) models of a number of designs, running Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to verify the integrity of the design, and multiple rounds of design reviews where all design decisions were justified. My device design was implemented in the manufacturing process with the intent of including the designs as a larger deliverable for the sponsor. Was the sole person responsible for the design process from start to finish. Gained experience incorporating a design into a much larger body of work. Communicated with other engineers and technicians was vital to ensure that my requirements for the device were correct, and that my designs wouldn’t interfere with any other components.Additionally, was a part of a small team that was required to create mechanical drawings for a prototype Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV). Work included modifying the prototype CAD models, and making both assembly and part drawings that were sent as part of a larger total design package to the sponsor. Gained experience creating documentation of subassemblies of larger vehicles as well as experience working under short deadlines.Due to the proprietary and classified nature of the work, I am unable to provide any media of the projects I worked on. -
Student ResearcherColumbia University Creative Machines Lab Aug 2022 - Jan 2023Researcher working under Professor Hod Lipson at the Creative Machines Lab at Columbia University. Goal of the project was researching and designing a robot for the company Coral Vita in order to automate the cleaning and modeling of farmed coral samples. Project included high amounts of CADing, prototyping, and using techniques such as photogrammetry to model objects.
