About Kaden Engbers
I am a focused, disciplined, and detail-oriented person who seeks to make the teams that I am a part of greater than the sum of its parts. I grew up in Ottawa, and trained competitively in three different sports growing up, which helped me learn life lessons and recognize the importance of physical literacy and athletic development in youth.Since I was 12 years old, I have been coaching youth soccer in Ottawa. At Ottawa TFC, I have risen the ranks from a youth volunteer to one of the club's Technical Directors, becoming a full-time employee in 2022 (aged 20). In my time working at the club, I have had the privilege of coaching future professional and collegiate athletes, and working alongside UEFA-A qualified coaches and former professional players. My experience has focused primarily with players aged 4-12, although I do have experience coaching players aged 13-17. I currently hold a Canada Soccer Children’s Diploma, and plan to complete the Canada Soccer B License next, and potentially begin my UEFA badges as well.I believe that developing the next generation of players should be holistic - covering technical skills, physical literacy, tactical understanding, and mental/social skill development. Players should also be taught skills that they can take beyond the pitch - such as dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and discipline.Off the field, I am currently finishing my Bachelor of Commerce (with a focus in Management) at the University of Ottawa. While my work has been my primary passion and focus, I take my education very seriously. My target is to work in the sports industry in a context where I can apply my education in tandem with my experiences and competencies to influence and inspire. I am also considering Graduate Studies, although I may take some time away from school upon the completion of my undergrad.Let’s connect and share insights on coaching, youth development, or soccer in general!
