As the research programs intern, my work focuses on informing funding model design for scientific research through environmental scans, external consultations, and team discussion.

Coordinator for the Autistic Voices Project, which aims to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on employment experiences amongst Autistic people living in Canada. I led the evaluation of the role of COVID-19 on the employment experiences of Autistic adults living in Canada. I created semi-structured interview guides, conducted interviews with PWLE, analyzed the interview using thematic content analysis, and created video products based on interview themes.

Set objectives for several research projects to advance knowledge about sensory processing in autism spectrum disorder, independently prioritized steps and modified the plan as necessary, resulting in 4 scholarships, 4 peer-reviewed publications, 2 peer-reviewed grants, and a CIHR silver presentation award.Exercised judgement in decision making to move the project in an innovative direction, participated in collaborations to bring in new expertise, resulting in a peer-reviewed grant and journal invitation.Effectively communicated results to the scientific community at international and national conferences and symposia

COFFEE & CAREERS INITIATIVEProactively identify, recruit, liaise, and coordinate speakers for public informational interview sessions which results in knowledge dissemination and increased student confidence and engagement for their post-graduate career exploration.

Disseminate scientific research to the general public, by conveying complex scientific publications to the lay public in clear and concise language, resulting in published articles in an online science blog

Created the comprehensive exam committee from the ground up to provide doctoral students with a better understanding of the steps and expectations of the comprehensive exams, resulting in student satisfaction and preparedness. By first conducting a needs assessment based on previous student experience, I designed and implemented in-depth information sessions, facilitated question periods, and created a database of sample materials. Iterations of this program have been informed through continuous evaluation.

Teach undergraduate students to engage with the scientific publishing process by promoting critical thinking, creativity, and sound scientific writing. I accomplish this by reviewing submitted papers (~4 per year) and providing edits and commentary to ensure scientific rigor and enhance the story they are conveying.
