As a child I could see a design philosophy behind every object around me. My journey with design began at the age of 14, when my friends and I enrolled in a space settlement design competition for NASA, USA. As others worked on structural technicalities, I seeked answers to questions like what people want from cities, how a city in space could feel like ‘home’, what transforms settlements into communities and how living in these communities makes people happy. We designed a city in space, delving into all aspects from gravitation to community building and our submission won the grand prize across the globe at the Annual NASA Ceremony in Alabama, USA, where I was invited to speak about the humanistic aspect of our project. This experience instilled in me a passion for design thinking and curiosity to learn about the psychology of spaces. It was this moment in my life where I became sure that I wanted to become an architect & urban designer and play a part in how our world is designed in the future.I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2020 with a Master in Urban Design, won the Alan Clap Book Award and a special mention for my thesis project. I'm currently working as a Research Assistant with Patrick Condon on his book Sick City which looks at urban design in the presence of the host of crisis that our cities are experiencing like the pandemic, racial inequality and housing affordability. I’m exploring how each of Vancouver's neighborhoods will have to change in the coming 20 years when the population nearly triples itself, this an incredible opportunity we cannot leave untapped, and one that I have immersed myself in through my research.I have always been fascinated by the way the world of the built and the unbuilt works. I am extremely interested in understanding the way innovation and technology keep evolving our lifestyles which results in a need to design our future cities differently. My passion is to use the tool of sustainability to design spaces that build better communities and provide for our changing dynamics. Previous to this, I did a graduate program in BIM following a 5-year professional Bachelor in Architecture and have a work experience with 3 international architecture firms. I have also traveled around the globe and worked in places like Greece and Canada for internships under the AIESEC Go Global Program and with Stantec Architecture Ltd.If you’re interested in grabbing coffee or just hearing more interesting adventures of my life, please send an email my way.
