This role entails supporting the development of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to further the socio-economic development of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Member Countries through provision of technical assistance for the strengthening of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) ecosystems to the 57 IsDB member countries. Some of my key achievements include: development of the Science, Technology and innovation Operational Strategy (STIOS) 2021 – 2025; Development of a Member Country Assistance and Partnership Programme (MCAPP); Successfully integrating STI into the sectoral policies of the Bank and the business model of a Multilateral Development Bank through the Member Country Partnership Strategy; and Supported the strengthening of STI ecosystems in the republics of Mozambique and Uzbekistan through STI Policy landscape mapping, design of national STI Policies and strategies, among others. I am a strong advocate for national sustainability through STEM, Research and Development, innovation, and commercialization in developing countries through focused short and long-term interventions.

Uganda

As head of the Head of Policy Analysis and Development Unit at the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST), I successfully developed the National Science Technology and Innovation Plan - 2012 which provides a framework for actualizing Uganda's Science, Technology and Innovation development aspirations. I have developed several science and technology related policies including; the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (2009) and the National Biotechnology and Biosafety Policy (2008) as well as contributed towards the development of several STI related policies such as the Industrialization Policy for Uganda, EAC industrial Policy among others. I have also designed several groundbreaking programs and projects including the $100 million dollar project to support the strengthening of STI infrastructure, technology development capacities, and incubation in Uganda. Using my skills in economic analysis and forecasting, i facilitated the development of the UNCST Strategic Plan (2006 – 2011; and 2012 - 2018) , the Plan for statistical development (2006 – 2011), and the Annual Science and Technology Status reports (2007 - 2011). Furthermore, I have successfully organized and facilitated 8 International and 12 National Science and Technology stakeholder conferences to: (a) accelerate the debate on utilization of STI for social economic development, (b) integration of STI into the national development plan; (c) obtain lessons from accomplished professionals and countries; and (d) discuss and create synergy on key national issues.I was the UNCST focal point for the EU on transport, focal point for the Commission for Science and Technology for Sustainable development in the South (COMSATS), Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-aligned and other Developing Countries (NAMS&T) and Committee for Scientific and Technology Cooperation (COMSTECH).
