I am a Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, developing MRI. I am author/co-author on over 55 papers, which methods range from cancer and osteoarthritis imaging, physics simulations, machine learning, cell tracking, and radiofrequency hardware for MRI. I am a co-author on a Nature Medicine paper on machine learning x-ray images of COVID patients (PMID: 33442676) -- which involved 20 international academic and industrial sites. I am also a joint author on a book on accelerating MRI (ISBN-13: 9781681736969).At Cambridge, I was the President of the PostDoctoral Society of Cambridge, and have participated in organising the second and third National PostDoc events (2019; 2021). I have received funding by an EU Horizon 2020 grant (StarSTEM) for developing stem cell tracking methods for osteoarthritis repair; also partially funded by the Biomedical Research Council for translating new MRI methods into clinical practice. During my first four years at Cambridge, I was funded by GlaxoSmithKline for developing osteoarthritis imaging methods. My expertise over the past few years has developed in two main branches: physics modeling (e.g., Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting) and machine learning (e.g., segmentation of tissues, radiomics for osteoarthritis prediction). These skills are added to my PhD roots in the development of electronics for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. I have developed several MRI electronics, such as radiofrequency coils for sodium and carbon-13 MRI, which may improve the detection of cancer. I developed dual-tuned sodium/proton MRI radiofrequency arrays for specialized cancer imaging. I was a teacher's assistant in electronics for many years. I also worked on gamma ray telescopes and simulations during my undergraduate studies. Occasionally, I visit Mexico for mapping caves. I am also a big fan of Hava Su Pai in the Grand Canyon, where I was once caught in a flash flood and helicoptered out -- with 200 other people!
