Similar to my previous job at Thr1ve, I worked as an all-rounder in this fast-paced restaurant. At times, I would be rostered on at the deli, where my responsibility would mainly be to serve customers. This has undoubtedly been able to maintain, if not improve, my communication skills as it is a key component of both customer service and teamwork.In addition to this, I have also been tasked to work at the juicing station, where my duties involved preparing drinks for customers and cutting fruits between orders. From this, I have been able to enhance my ability to multitask efficiently.While working at SumoSalad, I have also been rostered on at the made-to-order salad station, where I have been able to improve my organisational skills. At this work station, it was vital that I knew which ingredients were running low so that I would be able to prepare some more to ensure a smooth flow of service. Thus, I would have to prioritise my tasks accordingly at this station. It is also worth mentioning that regardless of the role I was given, I would usually perform the duties required for each station if my colleagues were busy or if they required assistance.

I was hired as an intern mainly to assist in the organisation of the VICTOR Oceania Championships 2019. In this role, I was jointly responsible for supporting pre-event planning, marketing, onsite event assistance, online streaming production and events communications through relevant platforms. In addition to working very closely with the event directors, I was also able to assist Badminton Oceania in producing content for their media platforms.Throughout this internship, I was able to utilise my ability to work well in a team in a setting which was new to me. As a result, I was able to assist in ensuring quality event delivery while working with both Badminton Victoria and Badminton Oceania. In addition to this, I have also learnt to be proactive when completing tasks as this role involved interviewing players, which I only had a small window of opportunity to perform on several occasions.

While I worked at Thr1ve, I was trained to be an all-rounder at the restaurant. This meant being trained as both a front and back of house staff member. When necessary, I was also given barista duties, which included making coffees, teas and smoothies.When working as a front of house member, I was able to upsell many items such as sides and drinks which improved the average daily sale. I was able to do this by engaging and forming relationships with our customers, which also improved customer retention. In addition to this, working at the front of the house also improved my communication skills significantly as I had to communicate with not only customers but also my back of house and barista colleagues to ensure a smooth flow of service.As a back of house member, I was responsible for everything within the kitchen to ensure that customers received their food as quickly as possible. Specifically, I had to make the salad bowls on the food service line while ensuring that the line was consistently stocked up by preparing the necessary ingredients whenever possible. All of this was done while maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen. Ultimately, my ability to multitask improved by leaps and bounds from working at Thr1ve.

At Malaysia Garden, I was mainly responsible for serving customers. With prior customer service knowledge, I was able to make patrons feel welcomed and comfortable during their meals at the restaurant. Utilising my communication skills, I was also able to determine if the customers were satisfied with their dining experience by checking in on them after they had received their dishes.In addition to serving customers, I was also responsible for taking food orders and reservations over the phone. Thus, I was able to improve my multitasking abilities as phone calls sometimes came in while I had to deal with customers within the restaurant. Moreover, taking reservations over the phone also enhanced my problem-solving skills as I had to ensure that I could accommodate as many people as possible, which sometimes meant having to rearrange the seating plan of the restaurant.

As a dishwasher at an extremely fast paced ramen restaurant, my duties were crucial in keeping the flow of food service as smooth as possible. Occasionally, I had to coordinate with the rest of the kitchen staff to determine which dishes had to be cleaned first, which improved my communication and teamwork skills.

I was employed at The Coffee Club when it was still a new franchise brought into Malaysia from Australia. Thus, I received training from our Australian counterparts as we had to abide by their methods of service. As this was my first job, this undeniably improved my abilities to communicate confidently, multitask and work in a team.From my experience working at The Coffee Club, I was able to form relationships with our patrons, which assisted in customer retention. This also allowed our customers to feel comfortable while having meals or drinks at the cafe.
