With more than ten years of agricultural experience, I am passionate about food. I care about the ways it's grown, the people that grow it, and the way it tastes. Through these years I've also seen the broken nature of our food system. Farmers working ninety hours a week and living below the poverty line. Farmers coming into old age without someone to pass along their farm or knowledge. And farmers unable to invest in innovation without access to capital.I also have six years of experience working in homeless services. These years gave me insight into the broken nature of our food distribution systems. Fresh, sustainably raised food is a privilege low-income people are not afforded. The food of our country's poor comes more from a factory than the ground. I've merged this background with years in non-profit management to start Forage, an innovation incubator in sustainable farming. We fundraise, document, and research projects in both rural and urban agriculture, working to find the breaks in our food system and collaborate a network of specialists around a solution. We invite the public to be more intimately connected to the issues surrounding food, because the future of agriculture will direct the future itself.
