As a volunteer Crisis Responder with Kids Help Phone, I have the privilege of supporting people across Canada during some of their most challenging moments. Our role is to create a safe and compassionate space where texters can express their feelings without judgment. Through active listening and empathetic conversation, we help them identify emotions, explore coping strategies, and develop plans to stay safe if needed. Every interaction is different, but the goal is always the same: to move someone from a state of crisis to calm. The experience is deeply rewarding, and I’m honoured to be part of a team that makes such a meaningful impact in people’s lives, one text at a time.
