I've been working on and off since age 14 when I helped my mum with her cleaning job at our local youth centre. The majority of my work experience is in the hospitality sector and I have worked in cafes, restaurants, gift shops and bars. From the selecting of my GCSEs I aimed to study filmmaking but was interested in and excelled in writing from a young age. During my time studying a degree in Filmmaking at The University of the West of England in Bristol, I learnt a great deal about media and the film/TV industry and was also able to study abroad in Taiwan for 5 months. During this time I discovered a great love for solo travelling and have always dreamt of living in another country. I have also had a great interest in learning languages and about other cultures since taking French at GCSE and have self taught various snippets through the years. While living in Taiwan my Mandarin was able to take a large improvement and I became very comfortable speaking it in my everyday life; making a great deal of friends through the experience. Following graduating university I went on a month long trip to visit said friends before returning to the UK to start working. I joined The Florist as a barback intending this to be a temporary position but upon being offered a promotion to bartending found a great interest in cocktail making and the bar nightlife. After 2 years working at The Florist I decided to move on and found a job at speakeasy Hyde & Co - regarded by many as not only one of the top bars in the city but in the county. Being the flag ship of a successful company Hyde&Co's little big sister The Milk Thistle (ranked number 27 in 2022 top 50 best bars in the UK) follows where Hyde started in creating a speakeasy scene in Bristol. Although I greatly enjoy Hyde&Co, after 4 years in the bar industry and many more in hospitality I am looking to make a career change and try something new. I am currently very interested in working with animals or in character writing (for example for video games, another passion of mine). I am also interested in using my language skills in my career or going back into media and film. I am open to considering most career paths and I'm currently just contemplating my options.
