Kai Shi is a Senior Software Engineer at Sun Life. Colleagues describe them as "Smart, Hardworking, Dedicated and Loyal. Kai joined the team and jumped immediately into understanding what is needed to install, maintain and sustain multiple Hyperion installations on both Windows and Unix platforms. He regularly had to explain the specific requirements for each environment, usually within extremely confined timelines with multiple parties that had conflicting paths. He happily took on responsibilities for multiple individuals when asked and stayed on top of items until they were completed to a high standard. He unselfishly worked when asked (middle of the night, weekends) when unplanned issues arose. He wants things to work as well as to improve things in order to prevent repeated events. I have watched Kai grow his confidence level in the Hyperion space such that he has a firm grasp on fundamental design concepts and can identify poor work or flawed designs. He understands infrastructure basics (Hyperion-centric) based on a solid knowledge base acquired by both theoretical study as well as practical on-the-job learning. Kai also has developed his implementation skills which will result in a very broad and comprehensive understanding of both the Hyperion suite as well as the infrastructure beneath that is required to run the software. Some of Kai's biggest assets are his ability to listen, understand, provide feedback and do so in a calm and orderly manner. He takes ownership for his work and aspires to master the Hyperion space. He makes it fun to come to work as he finds ways of making others feel welcome as well as a part of a team.
